Annual General Meeting 2014

St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union Limited is commencing the process of selecting suitable candidates for nomination for election to the Board of Directors and Board Oversight Committee (BOC) at this year’s Annual General Meeting, which will take place in December 2014.

Under new regulatory requirements, all candidates must meet the minimum fitness and probity standards as set out by the Central Bank of Ireland. These standards apply to all directors and BOC members.

Applications for suitable candidates are now invited from interested members of St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union. We are particularly interested in those members that have a background in Finance and / or Financial services with specific experience in the areas of Credit, Market (Investment) and Operational Risk.

These positions are unpaid voluntary positions.

Nomination packs for these positions can be obtained from the office of St. Raphael’s at 1 – 2 Fox and Geese, Naas Road, Dublin 22 or by email to Nomination.Committee@straphaelscu.ie quoting your member number.

Closing date for submission of completed Nomination packs is the 23rd September 2014 at 4.30pm.

Applicants can familiarise themselves with the Fitness & Probity guidelines as set out by the Central Bank of Ireland by clicking here.

The role of directors and BOC is set out in the Credit Union Act 1997, as amended by Credit Union and Co-Operation with Overseas Regulators Act 2012. Garda Siochana Sportstar Awards 2014 – Calling for nominations

We are very proud to once again sponsor the Coiste Siamsa Annual Garda Sportstar Awards. This year the awards take place at a gala dinner in the Malton Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry on Friday 21st November 2014.

As well as the Sports Awards, a new award has been introduced this year in recognition of the wonderful contribution many members of An Garda Siochana make on a volunatary basis to social and cultural affairs in their local communities.  So if you know someone who makes an outstanding contribution in areas that benefit youth groups, art, music, heritage or charitable work, we want you to nominate them.

The closing date for ALL nominations has been extended to 1pm on Thursday 7th October.  If you get your nomination in by then, you will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to the awards plus an overnight stay for two.

Notice to All members of the Dublin Metropolitan Garda Recreation Club (Past & Present – Serving and Retired).

Notice also relates to Memebrs of Stackstown Golf Club and Westmanstown Sports and Leisure Complex and Garda Pensioners Association.

The Dublin Metropolitan Garda Recreation Club premises at 8-10 Harrington Street, Dublin 8 (The Garda Club) will formally close for business onWednesday evening 15th. October 2014.  Serving and Retired members of An Garda Síochána associated with the Club and its activities since it opened in 1961 are cordially invited to an open evening at the Club premises on Wednesday 15th October 2015, commencing 6p.m.  Spouses/partners are also invited

Light refreshments will be served to those wishing to attend.  Fr. Joe Kennedy, Garda Chaplin, will perform a short blessing ceremony to acknowledge the work of the founder members and successive governing committees who achieved so much since the Club first opened in 1961.

The gathering will provide an opportunity to formally mark this sad and historic occasion of the closing of such an iconic premises which, was at the heart of the Garda Síochána’s sporting and leisure activities for over a half of a century.  Those attending will have an opportunity to regale, share stories and meet in a social setting.

Looking forward to seeing you on 15th.

A Tribute to Mick Hughes

Mick HughesMichael (Mick) Hughes who passed away on Tuesday 25th November 2014, is remembered fondly by his friends and colleagues at St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union. Mick gave nearly fifteen years of time so generously as a volunteer Director and helped make the credit union the success it is today. He was well known for his gentlemanly and caring approach to his work. His passing will be keenly felt by staff members and directors who worked with Michael during his time with us. Mick was deeply committed to the credit union and everything it stood for. We will remember Mick with fondness always.
