Vacancies on Board Oversight Committee
Under the provision of Section 79 of the Credit Union Act 1997, as amended by Credit Union and Co-Operation with Overseas Regulators Act 2012, notice is hereby given of a Special General meeting (SGM) to be held on Monday 31st March 2014.
The purpose of the meeting is to elect three members to the Board Oversight Committee (BOC). These positions are unpaid voluntary positions.
The role of the BOC is set out in Credit Union Act 1997, as amended by Credit Union and Co-Operation with Overseas Regulators Act 2012, and in general relates to the assessment, evaluation and reporting on whether the board of directors has operated in accordance with the 1997 Act, as amended.
Applications are invited from members of St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union who wish to be considered for election on 31st March 2014.
Expressions of interest in these positions should be made by email or in writing by close to business on 14th of March 2014 to:

Issue with MS Internet Explorer – use Chrome or Firefox instead
As you may know from media reports, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer application has a security issue and they are recommending that either Google’s Chrome or Mozilla’s Firefox applications are used instead for internet browsing. The setup of Chrome or Firefox is similar to installing any software on your device. You can download the applications either from Google’s site: https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/chrome/browser/ for Chrome or http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and click on Firefox Free Download.

SEPA Communication for Members
You will be aware from our previous communications and coverage in the media that Ireland has now moved over to SEPA (the Single European Payments Area) for all transfers between bank accounts and for direct debits.
As our systems are now fully live with SEPA, it brings a number of benefits and changes for you, including:
1. You can now transfer funds within Eurozone for next day deliver and at no additional cost. (excludes UK)
2. Direct debits are now fully automated so if you are paying bills through your budget account, you need to make sure that you have sufficient funds to cover your bills. Otherwise, your bills won’t be paid.
3. 8-digit account numbers and national sorting codes are now replaced by IBAN’s (International Bank Account Numbers) and BIC’s (Bank Identifier Code). If you use internet banking, we have automatically converted all your details for you. If you sending money to a new account and only have the 8-digit account number and national sorting code, the system will automatically convert it for you.
4. The IBAN & BIC for your own St. Raphael’s accounts are displayed on the top right of your account statements that you received in December 2013.

St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union Family Day and Super Summer Draw 7th June 2014
Here at St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union – we’re planning our annual BBQ Bonanza and would love to invite our members and immediate family to a fabulous Family Day on Saturday 7th June at our offices 1-2 Fox & Geese Naas Road for fun and games for the whole family. We will be holding our super summer draw on the day also.
Taking place from 2pm-5pm, we promise a wonderful day of fun and entertainment there will be Bouncy Castles, Punch and Judy and we will be Painting Faces.
As a special promotion St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union will lodge €10 to every new child account opened on the day.
This is a great opportunity for members to meet up with former colleagues.
