The Board of Directors would like to extend their sympathies to the family of Joseph (Joe) Higgins who passed away on 24th June 2019.
Joe was a founding member of St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union in 1964 and also served on the Board. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and former Directors of St Raphael’s.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this most difficult time.

Reposing at The George Mullins Funeral Home, Kilcullen Road, Naas, on Wednesday (26 June) from 5pm with Prayers at 7pm. Removal from his home on Thursday morning at 9.20am to arrive at The Church of Our Lady and St. David, Naas for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by Burial in St. Corban’s Cemetery, Dublin Road, Naas.

ProEnergy Homes is a unique initiative brought to you by St. Raphael’s in association with the the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). This scheme allows members to improve the energy efficiency of their home while receiving a 35% grant towards the cost of works from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

Parking for the Family Fun Day is ONLY available directly opposite us across the Naas Road from our facility in the IVECO (now ISUZU) premises which is on the left hand side just before Woodies. The entrance is located on the Naas Road. The Pedestrian Crossing for our Building is located immediately outside our entrance.
You are advised that this is a public event and that photographs will be taken on the day for use on the credit union website, annual report and Facebook page. If you object to the use of photographs of you and members of your family, you should notify a member of staff on the day.

Dear Members,
Pursuant to the rules of St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union Limited (“the Credit Union”), the Credit Union is commencing the process of selecting suitable candidates for nomination to the Board of Directors (4 vacancies) and to the Board Oversight Committee (3 vacancies) at the Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) which will take place in December 2019.
All serving Directors and Oversight Committee members are
required by law to be re-elected by rotation every three years. In addition to
the serving Directors and Board Oversight Committee members seeking re-election
at this year’s AGM, all members of the Credit Union over 18 years are entitled
to apply. Candidates elected at the AGM will be elected for a period of up to
three years.
The role of Directors and Board Oversight Committee members are as set out in
the Credit Union Act 1997 (as amended). Under regulatory requirements, as set
out by the Central Bank, all candidates must meet minimum fitness and probity
standards. These standards apply to all Directors and Board Oversight
Committee Members. They can be accessed by clicking here.
Members applying for any of these positions should be aware that they are
voluntary and unpaid.
If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please express your interest by return email to nomination.committee@straphaelscu.ie, quoting your membership number by close of business on Friday 27th September 2019. A detailed Nominations Pack will be sent to all interested parties for completion. If you have any queries our Risk & Compliance Team will be available to assist.

We were delighted to launch the Make-A-Wish Charity of the Year programme at our Family Fun Day in August. We raised over €500 on the day and would like to thank everyone who made a donation.
Make-A-Wish is a children’s charity who help children with life threatening medical conditions.
Our family day was the first of many fundraising events we have planned during the year with staff and with you, our members. Today we’re hosting a cycling challenge in our offices on the Naas Road. Staff are hoping to cover the distance of 254km which is the distance from our office in Dublin to our office in the Garda College in Templemore and back. Why not drop by and join in the fun, all donations are very welcome.

Celebrated by Fr. Joe Kennedy in the magnificent surroundings of St. Paul’s of the Cross church, a candle will be lit for each and every member of the Credit Union that passed away during the year. The wonderful Garda Male Voice Choir will also be in attendance.

A dividend of 0.05% on shares and a loan interest rebate of 15% was approved at the 2019 AGM, for the year ending 30th September 2019. Both of these will be applied early next week.
A loan interest rebate is a way for St Raphael’s to reward members who have borrowed from us throughout the year. In simple terms, a rebate is a partial refund of the interest that a member paid on a loan.
This year’s loan interest rebate applies to members who paid interest on an Everyday Loan for the year ending 30 September 2019.
A loan interest rebate of 15% was announced for the year ending 30 September 2019. This effectively means that the interest rate on the Everyday Loan for 2019 was reduced from 8.25% to 7.01%. So, for example, if you paid €500 in interest during the last financial year, you’ll receive a refund of €75.
You don’t need to do anything. The rebate will automatically be lodged into your share account.
Once again we’d like to thank all of our members for their continued loyalty and support throughout the year and look forward to working with you again in 2020.

In the interests of the safety and welfare of our staff and members, we will only be allowing one member into the Banking Hall at a time, effective from this morning, Monday 16th March. Please wait in your car and you will be advised when it is your turn to enter the building. We are taking these measures in line with the social distancing guidelines that have been issued by the HSE.

We have spent the last number of weeks implementing remote working capabilities so that many of our staff can work remotely and securely from home.

In the interest of staff and member safety, access to our premises at St Raphael’s House will cease from close of business, Friday 20 March.
Our telephone lines will operate as normal tomorrow morning from 9.15 am to 12.30 am and as normal from Monday 23rd March.
St Raphael’s will continue to operate throughout the crisis and the entire team have been facilitated with remote, secure working facilities so that we can continue to support you fully no matter what events unfold.
